Abstract

This page is about installing Linux on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A 7600 notebook.

At least
Mandrake 9.1 works for me. Everything works.

Installation

I installed from cdrom.

STEPS

At start press F1.

I boot Linux with an additional parameter "nomce" as follows:

- linux nomce

I accept the proposed packages installation, but I install also the package kernel-source and the other to satisfy dependences.

Bootloader configuration:

Mbr

Force ACPI

Kernel option:   ............... nomce

Net & Internet: Expert mode

Manual connection with Standard modem ttyS0/Com1 (so it install other packages to satisfy dependences).

Graphics

Flat panel 1024 X 768

Radeon       (Xfree with 3D Support)

REBOOT

 

MODEM INSTALLATION

      I login KDE as user.

     Before you must uninstall previous version with

     # make uninstall

      I created a new directory in my home to decompress the driver into. 

 (Path)$su

# kedit /etc/modules.conf

I add line : options slmdm country=my country                    ITALY     (i.e.)

# tar -xzvf aald-0.8a.tar.gz

# cd aald-0.8a         

# ./install.sh

I set my account, query modem, show log windows ok.

Modem Configuration

1st init string           ATZ

2nd init string          ATZ

I modified a Smart Link driver.              You can download it only from here.       

It is forbidden distribute this driver without authorization!!!
